Project Description

Client: The Little Layout Co (layout since sold)
Client Location:   Peterborough
Layout Size: 8ft x 2ft
Completed:   June 2012

A modern image layout set in the late 1980s to the 2000s

Following its completion I sold this layout and it went to a proud new owner. Recently this owner approached me wanting a change and offered the layout back to me – I was very happy to see it again! Having given it some TLC and a few extra touches it is looking better than ever! Millwood is 8ft in length including a one end fiddle yard and it uses hand built C&L track with slow motion motors for point control. It is a modern image layout set in the late 1980s to the 2000s, depicting a small fuel yard and engineers yard. The layout has a very ‘open space’ feel including a run down farm yard and lots of greenery.

Layout Size: 6ft x 1ft
Completed:   October 2012

Small Depot Layout

Deeping Lane was based around a modern image diesel depot in 00 gauge and consisted of scratch built buildings from plastic and card with weathering detail. I added personal touches to the building such as pipes and internal rooms such as a locker room. Deeping Lane had real working lighting and automatic points.

This layout also featured in Model Rail Magazine in May 2013 and is still in the exhibition curcuit with Boston Model Railway Club.

Werrington Yard

This layout was built so we could attend the Mansfield Show in 2014 so I really wanted to showcase what I could do. With a 4ft scenic board and 2ft fiddle yards both ends – it sure was something to see! It was built using hand built C&L track with slow motion point motors and was DCC controlled. I scratch built all of the buildings using plastic and card kits and weathered and detailed them myself in order to make it more realistic and personal. Werrington Road was based on an Industrial Steelworks enabling me to do what I love best – make things dirty! Both fiddle yards were simplisitcally designed using cassettes to enable the operator to change trains quickly between either end

Layout Size: 6ft x 10 inches
Completed: December 2014

Layout Description

Eddington Yard has been built as an exhibition layout for Mansfield Model Railway show 2015 and our very own exhibition in June (see events page for more information). Eddington Yard is a small 6ft x 10″ DCC layout. It was built in just 5 weeks and depicts a small distribuition yard seeing all kinds of stock for loading and unloading. Packed with detail and atmosphere the layout has 15″ backscenes to give it depth and character. The shed buildings were supplied by Robert Sanderson of RS Model Makers as a custom piece
The layout was later featured in model rail in August 2015.
